Roulette is a game based solely on luck, so having an understanding of the odds is crucial to winning. For instance, knowing the odds of winning the different roulette bets so you can adjust your expectations accordingly.
Your main points to understand when playing roulette, you should know how to:
- • Knowing how different types of roulette bets work
- • Calculating the odds of the bets
- • Consider how different variations of roulette affect your odds
- • Using betting strategies to your advantage
Understanding the Roulette Bets – The Wheel Layout
There are three main variants of roulette to choose from at Thaidatabet; American, European and French. The American roulette wheel consists of 38 numbers. Including the numbers 1 – 36, plus a single zero and a double zero. Aside from the zeros, half of the numbers on the wheel are red and the other half are black. Additionally, half of the numbers are also even numbers and half odd numbers, naturally. The zeros aren’t black or red, but green.
The French and European wheels are exactly the same except for one detail. Instead of both a single zero and a double zero, these wheels only have the one single zero slot. All of the roulette bets you make correspond to where the ball will land on the wheel after it stops spinning.
Even Money Bets
Most experts would agree that your best roulette bets will be even-money ones. For instance, there are hardly any other game that will offer the same fifty-fifty odds that these outside bets do.
The even money roulette bets are ones you make on roughly half of the numbers of the wheel. For example, betting on either black or red, odd or even, or even the low numbers such as 1-18 or 19-36. Basically, you get the chance of the ball landing in about half of the options on the wheel. Without counting the zero or double zero slots. This comes with a payout ratio of 1-1, or double your wager.
The Greater the Risk the Bigger the Reward
Like all casino games, the bigger the risk you’re willing to take in roulette, the better your potential reward will be. For instance, if you bet on a single number in roulette, since this has between 1 in 36 or 1 in 37 (on the American wheel) of winning. You will then win 35 to 1 your wager. But this bet isn’t to be made too lightly, since it is essentially a game of luck and the same number could occur twice in a row or not once in a hundred spins.
Columns Bets and More
If you don’t want to play it too safe, but aren’t in the mood to be a big risk taker either, then it’s not all or nothing. There are plenty of other options that fall somewhere in between and offer relative payouts as well. Such as bets that payout 2-1 when you bet on columns which are about a third of the numbers on the wheel.
Column bets don’t include consecutive numbers like high or low numbers. For instance, the first column is one in every three numbers. Also, like the other roulette bets above, they also do not contain the single or double zero bets.
If you’re indecisive and the above bets do not cover what you have in mind. There’s another excellent option you can take. For a greater reward but less risk than a single number bet, you can place your chips on two numbers that are next to each other on the table. That way if the ball lands in either of these two slots, it’s a win for you, with a payout of about 17 to 1.
